The Army FAO Association Blue Book – 1st Annual Call Out

Army FAOs,
The Army Foreign Area Officers Association is proud to announce the inaugural edition of the Army Foreign Area Officers Association Blue Book.  This master reference guide is designed to capture the ‘ground truth’ of every FAO assignment location across the globe.
This initiative aims to provide a centralized repository of current unit missions and the specific quality of life considerations that define our unique career path. We need your direct input to build this resource from the ground up and ensure it accurately reflects the realities of life in the seat today. Your contribution will help establish a legacy of shared knowledge that empowers fellow FAOs and their families to navigate the marketplace with confidence and clarity.
We also encourage all retirees and spouses to submit their own submissions, as their perspectives provide important insights—particularly on family life, local conditions, and quality of life—that current officers may not cover. We value these contributions as essential to building a complete picture of each assignment location.
This is an unclassified document; please be mindful of your comments. This is also for Army FAO assignments only. We understand that embassy locations are multi-service, but there are unique Army FAO assignments as well. This document hopefully may assist our sister service FAOs, but it is focused on Army assignments only.
